ABOUT ME

I earned a B.S. in Psychology from Oregon State University, and a M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sonoma State University. I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2018, and have over a decade of work experience in mental health.

I specialize in treating teens, adolescents, and young adults with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse, though I have experience with adults and kids of all ages.

Bio

I am a husband and father of two living in Petaluma, CA. When I am not in my therapy chair, I enjoy winter sports, swimming, backpacking, soccer, reading, and video games (in moderation of course).

I began my career in mental health in residential treatment settings working with high acuity behaviors like suicidality and aggression. After cutting my teeth in residential, and before earning a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I worked as a Behavioral Consultant across various settings, including schools, family homes, and in the general community.

After graduate school, I worked for 7 years with a Community Based non-profit organization under many different roles: a Wraparound Mental Health Clinician, Supervisor, Therapist, and eventually helped start and manage an innovative residential/foster care hybrid program right here in Petaluma. After a brief stint in Adult Mental Health, I returned to my roots as a therapist within the Petaluma City School system, before leaning into the full-time private practice that I provide today.

I passionately believe in the inherent self worth of every person on this planet. I believe that good therapy stems from acceptance and a non-judgmental stance, and I try to bring that spirit into every session I hold. I am an LGBTQ ally, gender affirming, and am committed to serving my community and advocating for the most vulnerable populations. Come as you are, and know that however you show up, you will be safe and welcome in my practice.

My Approach

  • Modalities

I utilize principles of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and a Strength Based approach to apply skills and effect change.

  • Focus

I will help you identify, develop, and focus on your goals. I believe good therapy stems from non-judgement and acceptance. However you show up day to day, know that it is ok.

  • All Are Welcome

I am privileged to bear witness to the stories, experiences, and challenges that shape who you are as a person. People of all genders, sexualities, races, sizes, and abilities are welcome in my practice.
